Pay Range: $30.13 to $45.20
Actual pay will be based on various factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, proficiency for the role, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to our coworkers with bonuses ranging from 8-12% of each coworker’s gross annual wage depending on company profitability and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.
The Real Estate Paralegal provides legal and administrative support to the Legal Department, Real Estate Department, and Store Engineering Department related to the acquisition, sale, and development of real property. This role is responsible for drafting and managing real estate documents, supporting condemnation proceedings and Department of Transportation (DOT) projects, and assisting with company‑wide legal research, document review, and drafting. The position works closely with corporate attorneys, internal departments, and external parties to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant real estate and legal transactions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and coordinate real estate documents related to the acquisition and sale of property, including easements, development agreements, and closing documents.
- Provide ongoing status updates to internal departments regarding pending real estate transactions.
- Track and manage critical deadlines to ensure all legal documents are submitted timely and accurately.
- Review title commitments, plats, and surveys and assist in resolving title‑related issues.
- Respond to incoming calls and emails regarding real estate matters, determine appropriate next steps, and follow up with internal and external parties as needed.
- Provide real property information and real estate documentation to internal departments upon request.
- Research applicable laws, legal theories, and concepts related to condemnation proceedings and Department of Transportation projects.
- Review materials received in connection with condemnation or DOT matters and identify areas of concern.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Corporate Attorney and appropriate internal committees.
- Assist with drafting and revising legal documents related to condemnation matters.
- Coordinate ordering of appraisals and assist with engaging outside counsel when necessary.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other online research platforms to locate statutes, cases, regulations, and model documents.
- Perform preliminary reviews and revisions of legal documents received from other departments and identify omissions or concerns.
- Draft legal documents for review by the Corporate Attorney to support company‑wide legal needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a paralegal
- Paralegal degree preferred but not required
- Notary Public license required or willingness to obtain
- Business, corporate, legal, or real estate education required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using Westlaw or similar legal research platforms required
- Strong understanding of legal and real estate concepts, including confidentiality and conflicts of interest
- Ability to coordinate real estate transactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience supporting legal, corporate, and real estate matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and critical‑thinking skills
- Proficient in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting legal and real estate documents (contracts, statutes, title work, easements, surveys, etc.)
- Accurate and efficient keyboarding and document production skills
- Proficiency with legal research and document management tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and deadline management
- Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; daytime
