Actual pay will be based on various factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, proficiency for the role, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to our coworkers with bonuses ranging from 8-12% of each coworker’s gross annual wage depending on company profitability and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.
Due to Kwik Trip’s continued growth, we are adding an additional full-time Food Protection Analyst. This position is responsible for independently implementing and maintaining food safety and quality programs at Kwik Trip, Inc.’s Distribution Center (DC) in DeForest, WI.
The role ensures compliance with corporate food protection standards while operating with minimal on-site supervision. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for all food safety and quality matters at the DeForest facility, including internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and incident response. While supported by the corporate Food Protection Administration team in La Crosse, WI, this position owns day-to-day operations and decision-making for food protection at the DeForest DC utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documentation provided by the corporate Food Protection Administration team.
Timeframe: We are hiring for a start date with Kwik Trip prior to the DeForest DC opening. The successful candidate will be trained and begin work at our La Crosse, WI campus. Kwik Trip will reimburse for mileage, food and lodging from date of hire until start day in DeForest.
Responsibilities include:
• Lead the execution and daily management of food protection programs
• Develop and implement corrective actions for audit findings and compliance gaps; communicate outcomes to corporate Food Protection leadership
• Analyze food protection reports (e.g., product holds, receiving rejections, complaints, temperature excursions) and implement preventive measures
• Independently manage pest control and sanitation programs
• Oversee temperature monitoring, calibration schedules, and inventory hold programs
• Act as the primary liaison between DeForest DC and corporate Food Protection Administration
• Provide on-site leadership for food safety training, document control, and KPI tracking
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline OR experience in the food industry (three or more years)
• Experience in the food industry with a strong interest in food protection and public health
• HACCP Certification, Seafood HACCP, Certification PCQI Training at time of hire
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel
• Knowledge of food Protection policies, procedures, and good manufacturing practices
• Knowledge of third-party/FSDL auditing program, product complaint process and their respective corrective action plans
• Understanding of the appropriate federal and state food codes
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Proven ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• High level of confidentiality
• Attention to accuracy and detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate remotely with corporate teams
• Driver’s license and good driving record with ability to travel
Preferred but not required qualifications include:
• Advanced degree or extensive industry experience (seven or more years)
• Additional credentials (SQF Practitioner, Internal Auditor, BRC, ISO 22000) at or within 6 months of hire
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours; however, it may include occasional evenings and weekends as necessary. Occasional travel will also be necessary.
